For me, this means that I just plug into an external display at 1920x1200 and keep both the games and the computer running that res, using only the external display for gaming. Obviously, games coming out this year will only worsen the problem.Įither way, keep in mind that it will be easier on the computer to run at 1440x900 resolution, but windows will look best at the full 2880x1800 resolution, and you might run into little graphical and mouse accuracy oddities by having different resolutions for windows and games, or if you scale up the DPI in windows to compensate for the high resolution. Same with Far Cry 3, though the experience was a bit worse.
I played Bioshock 3 on medium settings last year and it ran rather smoothly, though intense action sequences definitely dropped in framerate. I play less demanding games (Dota 2, Counter Strike) and use it to try out more modern games on occasion.
I have one, and no, it can't properly run current gen games at the rate you'd like.
